Finally a little down time to get a report up, it’s been a busy July. First thing I will say is the walleye bite in the area has been consitently inconsistent. Days with some wind and overcast has been pretty good walleye fishing while calm sunny days have been real tough for walleyes but hot for bass and pike. The walleyes have been hanging in the 13-18 ft range. We have been mainly catching them on lindy rigs and minnows. You can catch bass and pike the same way or you can pitch a weedless jig and minnow or plastic worm up into the weeds. Water temps are right around the 79-82 degree range and we are starting to see more floating fish. Be quick and gentle with the fish if releasing them in these water temps. Butch had a client land a 31 inch walleye on Gull Lake on Wednesday, it was a beautiful fish. Mille Lacs has slowed to more of a normal fishing bite for the end of July. The smallmouth bass are still going good though. Some days they are pretty selective but once you figure out what they want, it’s a blast. I think we are ready for this heat to let up a little, bring on fall. Give a call if you would like to enjoy some fun and relaxation on the water 218-829-7010.
